Lost Planet: Extreme Condition was one of the first games released by a Japanese company in the late 2000s that seemed to attempt solely at connect with western audiences. That could be wrong, but there have been plenty of titles later on released by Japanese companies since then, many of which are well-received games in their own right. The Lost Planet franchise is now on its third installment, and its no longer made internally by Capcom. The result of that collaboration is rather underwhelming, to say the least.

Carried almost entirely by the games lead protagonist, Lost Planet 3 loses most of the gameplay of the original two titles, replacing it with good ole' human feels. Sadly, that's not enough to make this a game to recommend - but it does make it one possible to enjoy, even to love.

We're about to get our hands on Grand Theft Auto V just before release in order to deliver a detailed review to you, our dear readers. Have you got a preorder? Are you excited for one of gaming's biggest franchises to return to center stage? I sure as hell am! But first, I've got a few things to do:
Finish GameRevolution's review of Lost Planet 3. I had high hopes for this one but with single-player under my belt, I've only got multiplayer left to evaluate before issuing a grade.
Finish GameRevolution's review of Puppeteer for PlayStation 3. I'm not all that thrilled by this game, but we'll have a verdict for you shortly.
Even more PAX Prime coverage. I think I might have bit off more than I could chew.
Stock up my fridge for the two weeks I don't plan on leaving the house while playing GTA V.
Oh yeah, more Animal Crossing: New Leaf too.
What's in your game plan this weekend? Be sure to join your fellow commenters in discussing whatever you're playing in the comments below.

Worth Playing: "Lost Planet 3 fails to have its own identity. It is technically competent, and there are moments of fun to be had by shooting enemies. I didn't encounter any major glitches or badly designed mechanics. The game just runs together into a bland morass of things you've seen in other games. There's the basis for an interesting game here, since everything involving the space trucker mentality is infinitely teresting than the machine guns and giant bugs. Unfortunately, the guns and bugs take over, and the result is a bland game that's been done better countless times before."

"The Lost Planet series and I have had our shares of ups and downs. I adored the first game, but loathed the second. When the original game released on the Xbox 360 there was a sense of next-gen about it - the gorgeous looking ice world, the grappling hook mechanic, huge, exhilarating monster battles, and of course, you could pilot a mecha-like robot. Lost Planet was a cool (pardon the pun) and exciting third-person shooter. Then Lost Planet 2 arrived and I was hugely disappointed in the direction Capcom had taken the sequel. The single player was the main reason why I loved Lost Planet, so to have that stripped away and replaced with a focus on cooperative play, well, you can imagine my upset. Sure, Lost Planet 2 was fun with friends, but I felt that the smaller stages were broken up too much. Now were on to the third instalment, created by a different development team, Spark Unlimited, who doesn't exactly have a proven track record (Legendary, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty),...
